Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should I do to prepare my home for my carpet cleaning?

A: If there is a lot of debris on the carpet it is recommended that you vacuum first. Any furniture you want moved that has breakables on them, such as pictures or crystal, should be cleared. Our policy is that we will move most furniture that can be safely moved. Our technicians will do an inspection before they start cleaning and notify you if there is any furniture that can't be moved. Also, any small items sitting on the carpets to be cleaned, such as boxes, newspapers, toys and shoes, should be picked up.

Q: Do I have to move furniture?

A: In most cases we will be happy to move furniture, however our techicians will do an inspection before they start cleaning and notify you if there is any furniture that can't be moved. It is important that any valuable items or furniture containing valuables are moved by the customer, or clearly brought to the attention of the technician.

Q: Why is vacuuming important?

A: The most important thing you can do to keep your carpet looking great is to vacuum it thoroughly and frequently, particularly in high-traffic areas. Vacuuming helps remove dirt particles which dull the carpet's appearance and damage the carpet fibers. Also, use walk-off mats at entrances to minimize dirt particles being tracked onto the carpet and to reduce soil accumulation.

Q: How long will it take my carpet to dry?

A: Drying time depends on many conditions, including how soiled the item was, how much water was used, weather conditions, indoor atmosphere, etc. However, in most normal cases, carpets and soft furnishings should be dry within 6-8 hours. If drying is a concern mention it to technician, they will be able to advise on drying times. You can walk on your carpet right after cleaning, if necessary.

Q: I've heard water can ruin carpets. Is that true?

A: No. What harms carpet is poor quality machinery that doesn't remove enough of the water to allow the carpet to go through the drying process properly.

Q: Will professional cleaning affect the protector on my carpet/will it need to be re-applied afterwards?

A: It is important to note that protector will wear off of any carpet that is in use. Walking, vacuuming, general wear and cleaning will all have an effect on this. Carpet protectors shield the fibres, they are designed to prevent spillages, dropped items and other general wear affecting the carpet directly. However, in doing so it will lose some of its effectiveness and should be re-applied on a regular basis to ensure continued protection.

Q: Does Carpet Protector really work?

A: Absolutely. Carpet protector is an outstanding product that Angel's Carpet Care professionals recommend highly. In fact, most new carpet has protector on it - applied by the carpet manufacturer. Carpet protectors shield the fibres, they are designed to prevent spillages, dropped items and other general wear affecting the carpet directly However, protector wears off because of foot traffic on the carpet, frequent vacuuming, etc.

Q: How can I maintain my new carpet warranty?

A: There are three key things to do to maintain your new carpet warranty:

1) Vacuum frequently
2) Clean spills promptly
3) Have periodic professional carpet cleanings

Q: Why is professional cleaning important?

A: When vacuuming no longer removes all of the soil, or you have not been able to remove spots following the recommended carpet care and cleaning procedures, it's time to have your carpet cleaned by a trained and qualified professional cleaner. Angel's Carpet Care knows the latest information on carpet construction, carpet care products, and safe, effective cleaning methods to help maintain carpet beauty. For this reason, we recommend, and most carpet manufacturers' warranties require, periodic professional cleaning.

Q: How often should my carpet be cleaned?

A: Most manufacturers recommend that carpets are professionally cleaned by a qualified technician every 12-18 months. Carpets should be cleaned on a regular basis and before they become heavily soiled. Allowing soil to build up will significantly reduce the life of a carpet.

Q: I've heard it's best to put off having your carpet cleaned as long as possible, is this true?

A: No. In fact, many of the major carpet mills today recommend professional cleaning at least once per year. The build up of soil in your carpet in combination with foot traffic creates abrasion that breaks down your carpets' fibers. The higher the traffic in a given area, the more often the carpet will need cleaning.

Q: I think I can clean my carpet and upholstery myself, is this recommended?

A: It is highly recommended that a professional cleaner is used. There are many items available to the public that are advertised for carpet and upholstery cleaning. However, along with these come many risks and the potential of causing irreversible damage. Angel's Carpet Care technicians have the correct training and knowledge, along with access to professional products, to ensure that a correct and safe job is carried out and the best possible results are achieved.

Q: How much will it cost?

A: Pricing will vary depending on many factors; the amount and type of work to be carried out, the construction and situation of the items, location of the customer, required equipment, etc. Due to the amount of variables in any given job, Angel's Carpet Care is often unable to provide a quote over the phone, or without carrying out an on-site survey. It is highly recommended that a technician carry out a detailed inspection before commencing any work, to fully understand what they are dealing with and inform the customer of any potential problems.

Q: Does Angel's Carpet Care use chemicals to clean?

A: In all forms, the best cleaning results are achieved by the use of chemicals. Angel's Carpet Care may use solvents, powders, detergents and other solutions during the cleaning process. If you have asthma or are chemically sensitive, Angel's Carpet Care might be able to use specialist chemicals designed to avoid causing any discomfort.

Q: Will my carpets re-soil quicker following cleaning?

A: Today's chemicals and detergents are manufactured to the highest specifications for quality and effectiveness. Angel's Carpet Care will only use detergents designed for the removal of soil from carpets and upholstery and, when used correctly, these will not lead to any rapid re-soiling. Detergents that are not designed for use on carpets and upholstery may cause re-soiling problems.

Q: I have children/pets, will they be affected by cleaning processes/chemicals?

A: Health and safety is of paramount importance in the cleaning industry.
